153 years after Jules Verne’s best-selling adventure novel, Around the World in Eighty Days, the EuropaTrail is offering another challenge on September 6, 2025: to complete the Tour of Brussels in 80km!
Starting at the former Boitsfort racecourse, the EuropaTrail already offered 4 distances of nature running/walking or trail-running in the beautiful Forêt de Soignes: 52km, 26km, 10km, children’s race. In 2025, a 5km was added to welcome participants in the (small) “Run in Brussels” challenge. An individual 80km was also added, but this time, unlike the first attempts under the “ecotrail” banner, it would be a tour of Brussels. It will also be an opportunity to showcase the “Promenade verte” imagined by Brussels’authorities.
In fact, the 80km route, 2/3 of which is on the Promenade verte and 1/3 in the Forêt de Soignes, will link a number of Brussels parks (Malou, Bon Pasteur, Roi Baudouin, Pede, Bempt, etc.) and offer some great viewpoints, such as the Atomium at the halfway point! In any case, this will be a costly challenge for the participants, just like the 80-day around the globe by the English gentleman Phileas Fogg.
